Lead Yourself

Hi-tech machines need a reboot. You are not a machine. What makes you think you can run, full-throttle, always?

If left unmanaged, stress, reactivity, and a loss of control can lead to using maladaptive coping mechanisms like substance use, doom scrolling, and disordered eating to cope with work. If left unchecked, burnout can lead to physical symptoms.

A more fulfilling life is possible.

We’ve created a program that helps professionals lead themselves.

Fulfillment is not attained by getting something, reaching the next milestone, or getting that raise. It can be attained by making the “middle” not the destination balanced and healthy. We’ll learn real strategies and skills to deal with the inevitable challenges we meet at work, elevating your emotional quotient. We’ll learn how to establish healthy communication and boundaries at work, and practice strategies that help us to not bring our stress home. We’ll talk about emotions like grief and fear and learn how to process and move through them so we won’t get stuck, holding onto resentments that we take home with us.

Each week, we’ll do fun exercises that will teach us to self-manage and take time to share. We’ll hold each other accountable. Think of a business development program with a process in which we measure self-mastery and non-reactivity, and lead by example.

When we self-manage effectively, solutions become clearer, relationships become stronger, and we simply have more fun in and outside of work.

When I took a 47-week leadership training program at my brand’s head office, I was shocked to find out in my extensive testing that my self-management score was lower than all of my other EQ results.

I was a little lost in busy, spinning many plates in the air and medicating my active brain with wine to fall asleep at night. In business, they call that getting lost in the weeds.

I ended up breaking up with the drink (since 2016) and was surprised to find that my recovery helped me gain tools that were game changers at work.

I became a more effective negotiator and communicator and fell in love with my life. You don’t have to hit rock bottom, admit to having a problem, or say no to something forever, like I did. I’ll teach you these tools, and we’ll practice them together.

This program empowers you to have effect on an area of your business you can change… yourself. You didn’t come here to stay the same!

We don’t have to let the things we do to cope get carried away.

In this program, you will be supported by your mentor and your cohort. You might take a pause, learning how to lead yourself and then evaluating for yourself what’s next. Maybe it is a permanent break-up with the cigarette or snifter. It’s all up to you. You don’t have to identify with a problem to make a healthy change of perspective.

We’ll help keep each other accountable to practices that support personal care, like mindfulness, and fun (and, at times, challenging) weekly practices.

You will become a better business leader, and your colleagues, partner and kids will notice.

“The problem is, we don’t teach business people to do this. If I had my way, every business school and every high school would have… a class in metacognition and emotional self-management that you have to go through for the first week in orientation.
